SEPTEMBER UPDATE:

We had an INCREDIBLE summer, with lots of very sucessful events and programs. Our 2-day camps were a huge success and allowed players to work on sport specific skills. Our Firm Foundation Clinics gave kids a chance to learn the fundamentals of basketball and volleyball. Our Jon Smith Memorial showcase tournament had a great turnout and provided incoming school teams a chance to play a ton of volleyball in a tw0-day period. Our basketball tournaments (2 of which are coming up in September) were a great way for local teams to get more playing opportunities. Also, our AYSA Summer Basketball and Volleyball Leagues were a great segue into our Fall Leagues, which are starting up shortly!

Abilene Eastern LL

Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Joey Roberts, and as the president of Eastern Little League, please know this was an agonizing decision. The board did not make this decision on a whim, nor did it take this decision lightly. I can speak for myself and tell you there has been lost sleep and heartache over this issue. Everyone on this board is a volunteer. Everyone on this board (save the coordinators of the Challengers League) has one child or more in the league. They too have to deal with the loss of money spent, time spent coaching or watching their child(ren) practice and play, and have the disappointment of calling the season to an early close. Some of us only got two or three games in this season. None of us liked to inform our own child(ren) of the decision (including kids who are aging out), but at the same time, we are focused more on what is best for the league as a whole. We would rather look back and say we did too much instead of we should have done more. We knew no matter what decision was made, people would be upset. What I will not stand for is for people calling other people names or for parents to rag on the members of the board who took what information they had (number of players who would play, number of people affected by the pandemic, the family dynamics within our league, and the amount of money spent on uniforms, insurance, field maintenance, concession stand, signage, etc.) and made an informed decision on the refund and the safety of our players and their families. Folks, Eastern Little League is going to be better than name calling and false accusations. If you want to do that, then you can take your player(s) and go elsewhere. We will not be about that at Eastern! No, we didn’t want to make today’s decision. We wanted to play, but as we said in the original announcement, Eastern exists for the children to have a safe and fun place for baseball. As a board, we believe we can not assure those two things. We as a league (and that includes parents, coaches and players) must be better than name calling, nagging and accusations. We must rise to the occasion and figure out how we can come out of this pandemic a stronger league. We must do all we can to bond together and move forward rather than try to pull others down and tear the league apart. Division is not what Eastern Little League is going to be about. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time. Everyone stay safe and healthy, and we will see you next season.

Go Eastern!

Please note, the Eastern Little League baseball season has not been cancelled. We are doing everything we can to get the season going as soon as we are allowed to do so and can consciously say we have taken precautions to help guard any health concerns we can per the regulations set by the government.

Concerning refunds, unfortunately, Eastern is not able to give any refunds on registration. Since we were only days away from the season starting with our opening ceremonies and Opening Day when everything happened. Registration funds had already been used on a new scoreboard at Cal Young, uniforms, field prep, baseball, equipment, insurance and all the other expenses required to get ready for baseball season.

But again, the season is NOT OVER….actually, as long as everything goes well, the delay is almost over! We want to encourage families to play baseball in your yards and be prepping to get back to practice and games. We hope to have more details as far as dates and times by the end of this week. Thank you for your patience as we have been working through this time of uncertainty.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected]. Thank you!

Go Eastern!”

Abilene Southern LL – JUNE UPDATE:

“Hello Southern Little League Family,

We are excited to get this baseball season started! We want you all to know that the board has been working hard to make sure all our players, coaches, and spectators remain safe. If you have not been informed yet, teams can hold practices as early as May 22 in accordance with City of Abilene policy. Games will begin June 15 (Coach Pitch will begin June 13).

Here are a few of the safety protocols we will have in place this season:
✓ Coaches will be provided hand sanitizer and Lysol spray for their team. We encourage kids to sanitize their hands when they arrive at practices/games and again when they leave.
✓ The coaches will spray down the bats and any other equipment that is being shared.
✓ There will be hand sanitizer in each dugout and at the concession stand during each game.
✓ The bathrooms will stay stocked with toilet paper and soap.
✓ We will have signs posted to remind spectators to use social distancing.
✓ To reduce crowding in the stands, we encourage spectators to bring their lawn chairs and watch the game outside the fences.

PLEASE KEEP YOUR PLAYER HOME if your player or someone in your house is sick! A baseball practice or game is not worth risking the team’s health.

We encourage you to review the Governor’s OpenTexas guidelines for youth sports families: https://gov.texas.gov/…/OpenTexas-Checklist-Youth-Sports-Fa…

Thank you in advance for your support, patience and understanding as we get through this season together. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us at [email protected].

Go Southern!” – Southern Little League Board

“Hello BCSA Coaches, players, families!

We hope everyone is getting through this time as well as they can. Like many of you, we are eagerly waiting for soccer to start again. The BCSA board has been following the information provided on re-opening Texas and meeting to formulate a plan for playing soccer this Spring. With the latest public health protocol as of 18 May 2020, 15 June seems the magic date for us to back on the field to play games.

First and foremost, the safety of our players, coaches, and their families is a priority. If we are still able to continue the season, our BCSA community must each do our part to make Covid-19 a thing of the past. We ask all of our BCSA attendees, whether you are a player, coach, spectator, to at a minimum, practice social distancing, wash your hands, dispose of any used gloves, and if appropriate, wear a mask. If you are feeling ill or have a weakened immune system, we ask that you stay home and get better. Remember we are in this together!

The BCSA board decided the best way to finish out the Spring is to host two tournament style events in June. There are several factors that were taken into consideration, such as summer weather conditions and the limitations that come with it, public health concerns, referee availability, timelines to consider such the Fall Season preparation, registration, etc. The tournament style event will take place 18-21 June for all Boy teams and 25-28 June for all Girls teams. If your team does not have enough players to play, or your team does not want to play in the tournament but you would like to play, we will try to coordinate with others teams and players in the same situation to combine teams. We will also generate a waiting list, if needed. Some age groups may be placed in the same bracket for the tournament to ensure each team plays at adequate amount of games. ( 4U-6U; 7U-8U; 9U-10U; 11U-12U; 13U+ )We are planning to get at least 3 games for each team.

During the tournament event, there will be a schedule to disinfect common area items such as bathrooms, game balls, etc. We ask that you bring your own chairs for the sidelines. All bleachers will be removed from the fields for this event. Please help us follow public health guidelines. Water breaks will be implemented to ensure our players are staying hydrated.

If you feel the risks are still too great for you and your family and would like a refund, please email the office at [email protected] . There will also be a form to fill out to complete and help us track your refund. Please note that the refund will be for the games not played as originally scheduled, minus the cost of field fees, referees, insurance, and office fees. The possible refund is $34.00.

We look forward to seeing you on the field. If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to email [email protected] or call the office at 325-676-1447.”

Dear Parents, Players, Coaches, Refs:

BCSA Board had a discussion today after the local schools held their press conference, and here was the outcome. With the local schools closing indefinitely and with the Mayor saying size of meetings should be limited to 50 people or less,  we will be suspending the spring season indefinitely, with the fluid situation with COVID-19 the safety and well-being of our players, refs, coaches, parents and spectators is at our utmost importance. In the bylaws we have some time to let the situation resolve itself and may be able to complete the season before the insurance restarts. So, we are not ready to give up on the spring season just yet. We understand that a lot of you would rather be on the pitch playing but with the COVID-19 virus situation we just cannot put people at risk. We hope that we will be able to get the season played as soon as it is safe to do so, and we are allowed. The BCSA office will remain closed to walk in service during this time. Alisha and myself will answer emails and phone calls during regular office hours of Monday-Friday 9am-2pm. Thank you in advance for your patience as we work through this everchanging situation.  BCSA Board will notify you of any new information as soon as we can get back on the pitch, we will give you as much heads up as we can. BCSA board is remaining the request of no practices for teams at this time.Michael Brooks BCSA President and the BCSA Executive board

When the pressures build in a close game or in areas of our lives, our performance always falls to the level of skills that we have made our normal habits (character). Competition REVEALS our skills (character) more than it BUILDS our skills (character).

PRACTICE & TRAINING IS WHERE OUR GAME IS BUILT!!

Firm Foundation Academies provide fun, challenging, and encouraging environments where youth learn to develop the skills they need to succeed in their sports and in their lives. Firm Foundation athletes receive quality instructions, COOL T-SHIRTS, and a comprehensive handbook for them to continue their development at home with their parents and friends.
