AYSA Adaptive Sports
Starting February 2026
At Abilene Youth Sports Authority (AYSA), we believe every child deserves a chance to play.
Starting February 2026, AYSA is launching a new Adaptive Sports Program for athletes of all abilities. This program is made to help kids and young adults move, play, grow, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.
The program will be led by Lisa Rinker, who has a heart for adaptive sports and years of experience serving athletes and families.
Sports & Activities
Our Adaptive Sports Program will include:
- Basketball
- Volleyball
- Track & movement activities
- Pickleball
- Soccer
- General fitness and exercise
All activities will be adapted so each athlete can participate at their own level. The focus is on effort, confidence, and joy.
Who Can Join?
We hope to partner with schools and programs within about an hour and 15 minutes of Abilene. Our goal is to bring students together from across the region and give them more chances to play and belong.
Why This Program Matters:
This program is about more than sports. It helps athletes:
- Build confidence
- Make friends
- Stay active and healthy
- Feel included and valued
